Mangiapane and Czarnik did not come close to outplaying Dube this pre-season.
This 100% is an asset management move as Dube did not require waivers and the other 2 did.
Dube would be in the opening night top 12 if this were not the case. |

I think one thing to note from the moves today is that Oliver Kylington did not get cut which I was happy to see! |

The 6th D spot was his to lose coming into camp with Valimaki out, and he was better than everyone who might have been able to take it from him. Good to see he's taken his opportunity and ran with it. |

It makes zero sense to keep Dube on the team. He still has some things to work on in his game, and there are no spots in the top-nine as long as they're trying to make Lucic work.
If he's going to be a future top-six guy it'll be way better for both Dube and the Flames if he spends at least part of this year as the best player in Stockton doing everything he can to improve than it would be getting ten minutes a night as part of a rotation on the fourth line.

I disagree. Dube still has some things to work on and it makes way more sense for both him and the Flames to play big minutes down in Stockton than it does for him to play on the 4th line or as a rotational forward. He's a Top 9 player and the Flames don't have any Top 9 spots. It is much better for his development to play in Stockton, at least to start the year.
Rushing guys in or putting them in a role they won't succeed in is how you ruin prospects. The Flames can afford.to be patient with Dube and they are. Let him get some real playing time down in Stockton then when a Top 9 role opens up via injury or something call him up. |

We trade Frolik yet?
I know everyone loves the 3m line but damn it I want Benny in the top 6, he could bust out and become our Josh Anderson. Him and Chucky on a line together that'd be fun to watch. Move Lindholm in between, Backland to 3c with Frolik and Looch. Put Dube on the 1st line for 10-12 games and see how he does. Ryan Center if 4th with rotating wingers.
1 extra forward that has to be trades or waivers and I'm sure Rieder would clear. |

Sven clears waivers, oh how the entitled have fallen. Great recovery of an 11th overall pick, not denying taking him there the guy light it up for the Winterhawks in junior. But then again so did Nic Petan.
We got RA out of that deal, thanks Benning. |

He really didn't do enough. He'll get his chance soon enough, but he made it easy on Tre to send him down. I like it when they make life a bit tough on younger guys...helps them get better. I remember when they sent Brodie back down and kept him there for half a season. I think that's when he became a good player. He knew he had to dig deeper. |

What the hell have you been smoking?? You want Frolic to be traded then you want him to be on the 3rd line and then you want to disrupt the best line that we have with Lindholm being put to a second line centre and then you want Dube who needs to be in Stockton to work on his game become the first line right winger. Keep smoking the Dube's you dumb Richard. |

I’d rather have dube playing too 6 in the minors than 4th line minutes the nhl. Personally I’ve always thought the flames would be best to develop him a centre in the A considering their lack of a bonafide #2 guy behind Monahan and the it doesn’t appear there is an in house solution over the next few years |

Never once did I say trade Frolic, Frolik on the otherhand. As far as splitting our #1 line was just throwing sh!t out there, having fun, boredom. Now for the gamga it’s a sativa blend called Purple Kush grown outdoors in sunny K Town. |

Backlund is definitely a "bonafide" #2 centre. Night in and night out, his line goes up against the best line of every other team. He's the most complete two-way centre the Flames have and he still puts up 40-50 points every year, not to mention the leadership he brings to the room - it's not for no reason that he was chosen to captain the Swedes to a gold medal at the World Championships in 2018. |

I agree. He’s a terrific player. Derek Ryan is kind of the same, smart two way centre who can drive some offence. |

Backs is a lot closer to Monahan than you think ...if you swapped them backs point totals would go way up and monahan would be a -34 |

Possibly but I watched Backlands play for the Rockets, he was good but not a point monster. |

that's looking like a beautifully set up team. Honestly looks pretty solid throughout, except for arguably Lucic but i'm cautiously optimistic to see how he does if the Flames use him correctly. I was scoping out some Power Rankings and things like that and seems like most of these writers are discounting the Flames, due to a number of factors, but often goaltending or believing our forwards will come down to earth and score significantly less. Here's hoping we prove em all wrong.
